Jimmy founded “Under the Mango Tree” after He and KC travelled the world and noticed that in many parts of West Africa, families and villages hang out under mango trees. Traveling through Central America, they saw the same thing: more people gathering under mango trees.

“I noticed that even though most of these people groups had very little, they were extremely happy. In Africa, many villages have one soccer ball and a bed sheet for a front door. The kids eat rice and bread. It’s hot, they have to haul drinking water through clouds of mosquitoes, yet I never saw anyone sad. I began to wonder why, “

In many countries and cultures, the best parts of life happen under mango trees. People connect. Problems are solved, friendships restored, and a common understanding is reached.

“I was in Africa trying to figure out life. I had struggled with anger and addiction for most of my life. I had tried to get help, and “they” said I couldn’t be helped, so I had to figure it out. I began to read and ask myself hard questions, and eventually the anger left, which made putting down the addictions very easy.”
